Enquiry Report

The report on the Enquiry into School Libraries and Teacher Librarians is scheduled to be tabled in the Commonwealth House of Representatives on Monday the 23rd of May.

Professional Development Day June 2011

Guest speakers include Colleen Foley, Darcy Moore, Paul McDonald, Jane Pretty, Sharon McGuinness, Marion Hing, Diane Ridley and Chris Cheng.

Diary Dates 2011

Term 2

Wednesday, 11th May 4pm: Networking afternoon at Port Kembla Primary.

Primary T/Ls – programming, Secondary T/Ls – skill levels yr7.

Wednesday, 18th May 4pm: Planning Meeting at Novotel.

Wednesday, 1st June: Professional Development Day at Dapto High.

Program published shortly.

Term 3

Thursday, 28th July 4pm: Networking afternoon at Thirroul Public. Primary T/Ls book week ideas, secondary T/Ls sharing session.

This will be followed by a dinner afterwards.

Term 4

October, date to be set: Professional Development day at Nan Tien Temple.

November, date and place to be set: Networking afternoon. Reading circles and sharing.

Tuesday 6th December: ISLA end of year dinner at Centro.

2011 Membership now due

Why you should join:

ISLA membership is open to past, present and future Teacher Librarians and Library Officers from all school sectors.

ISLA offers collaborative support and advice for all Teacher Librarians.

ISLA offers quality Professional Development Days to address the needs of Teacher Librarians and Library Officers in our region.

ISLA members pay lower fees for all Professional Development.

ISLA members are able to subscribe to our listserv.

ISLA organises several informal social functions and networking opportunities each year.

ISLA has the potential to be a powerful lobby group for local Teacher Librarians via a strong and active membership.

The membership fees will be $25 for the year. If you pay before the 11th May 2011 the fee will only be $20. (Membership of a Professional Association is tax deductible.) Applications after the 11th May will revert to the full cost of $25.

Please Note: Our membership fee has always been intended for individuals. The fee is intentionally set at a very reasonable rate to encourage individual membership. Therefore, no fee structure is set for institutions.

If you have not already joined or renewed your ISLA membership for 2011 please download the form and mail with a cheque to the address on the form.
